Assignment:
In the week leading up to team formation, push students to start thinking about how they might collaborate by asking them post “contributions” to at least three other students’ ideas. Contributions are descriptions of how one might help in developing an idea. This exercise demands that students carefully consider others’ ideas — to a much greater extent than they would or could if they were simply listening to others pitch their ideas in class — and think actively about which ideas they like, what skills they bring to the table, and how these could be used to execute those ideas. After doing this, students will be more familiar with their peers’ ideas and will be better equipped to make decisions about what teams they want to form.
Summary:
- All students post three “contributions” to three of their peers’ ideas
Objective(s):
- Prime students to form teams by having them think critically about what it would mean to collaborate on others’ ideas
